BREAKING:GOOD NEWS TO ALL STUDENTS AS RESUMPTION OF SCHOOLS MAY BEGIN ANYTIME SOON. In a bid to ensure the utmost safety of students and teachers ahead of school resumption, the authorities seem to be working round the clock and critically considering the available options. This could be justified against the backdrop of the latest statement of the Minister of Education, who discloses that an update on school resumption will be made soon. The Minister enjoins members of the public to remain cool and calm, stressing that the agency needs more time to think through and ensure that necessary precautionary measures are put in place ahead of any declaration of schools resumption. This is crucial and praiseworthy. Other things being equal, it is believed that the authorities will declare the fixed date for resumption anytime soon. While the Department of Basic Education is planning to have a robust meeting with the management of schools and other stakeholders ahead of resumption, it is important to state that precautionary safety measures should occupy a place of pride in the meeting. More importantly, each school should be provided with running water, face masks should be mandated at schools as well as physical distancing should not be lost at this stage that the coronavirus pandemic is still ravaging. As a matter of fact, nothing should be left to chance in this trying time. I also confirmed that Boss Mustapha, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will open all economic activities, schools and religious activities after this second phase of lockdown. According to Mustapha, the first phase of the eased lockdown expired on Monday, May 18 and Buhari has now extended it by another two weeks until June 1. Boss Mustapha therefore urged all schools, places of worship, businesses, offices, should be patient that normality will be restored after this second phase of lockdown. He said the use of facemask is compulsory to all citizens of Nigeria and you must practice social distancing. My Advice to you 1) you must follow expert advice by practicing social distancing. 2) you must wash your hands frequently with soap and running water. 3) Once Nigeria economy reopen, if you don't have your facemask don't go out to avoid unnecessary fees forced by the police officer and unnecessary harrassment by police officers.
